Orlando City is reportedly close to signing 22-year-old Swedish striker Marko Mitrovic on a contract that would link up the former Chelsea Youth Academy player with Kaka in their Starting XI for the 2015 Major League Soccer season.
It’s been a few weeks since Orlando has been connected to any possible signings for next season, and this one is definitely exciting.
After starting out as a very promising young striker in Chelsea’s system, Mitrovic struggled with injuries and trying to stay healthy, having been sidelined with ankle, thigh and back injuries.
He’s been drawing interest from teams around England and Italy since terminating his contract with Brescia, but the report says that his goal is come join Kaka in Orlando.
A big, strong, left-footed kid, Mitrovic doesn’t turn 23 until next July. If you get this kid and he stays healthy, he could easily develope into a top striker on MLS.
At the moment, Orlando City does not have any forwards locked up for next season, but assuming this report is true, this first striker signing could be a potentially big one.
