Orlando City goalkeeper Josh Ford to join Ft. Lauderdale Strikers on loan

Orlando City on Friday announced that goalkeeper Josh Ford will join the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, of NASL, on loan until June 18. Ford should be available for selection when the Strikers travel to battle the San Antonio Scorpions at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, May 30.

The loan gives Ford an opportunity to get some minutes on the field, which has hasn’t been able to do this season since being selected by Orlando City in the Re-Entry Draft from the Seattle Sounders over the offseason.

With Tally Hall back in the mix, Ford was at the bottom of a long line of goalkeepers on Orlando City’s roster, with Donovan Ricketts and Earl Edwards Jr. also taking up roster spots.

“With the veteran goalkeepers that we have, it’s been difficult for Josh to get regular playing time, so this is a good opportunity for him to go and get some important minutes at a high level,” said head coach Adrian Heath in a statement.

Orlando City is scheduled to make a “big announcement” today at 2 p.m. ET. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this isn’t it…
