2017 Stats

43 Games

11 Goals

11 Assists

The closest comparison to Torres’s pre-MLS numbers is former LAFC star Diego Rossi, who has an incredibly resume to Orlando’s new star. Rossi also came through with Peñarol and was about a 10/10 performer playing heavy minutes for the Uruguayan champions. They’re not the same type of player, but from a resume and productions standpoint, the similarities are striking.

Rossi was an elite MLS winger, playing the perfect Robin to Carlos Vela’s Batman for LAFC. He was constantly around that 10/10 mark in MLS and became a high-level goal scorer with 16 goals in 2019 and a golden boot-winning 2020 seasons. He was loaned to Turkish giants Fenerbache last summer and has played fairly well in Turkey.
