Orlando City have today confirmed the signing of Griffin Dorsey from Houston Dynamo on an initial two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 26-year-old arrives in Central Florida for a guaranteed $1 million in General Allocation Money (GAM) and boasts a wealth of experience accrued throughout his professional career, tallying 161 competitive appearances for Houston across domestic and continental play.

“We’re thrilled to bring Griffin to Orlando,” said Ricardo Moreira on the club's official website. “He’s an experienced, proven competitor in this league and fills a key position for us. Griffin’s versatility, consistency and mentality make him a strong fit for our group, and we expect his presence to elevate our back line immediately.”

Playing a starring role as his former club defeated Inter Miami to win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup one year on from our own championship run, Dorsey will be confident of bringing a winning mentality to a team that has fallen at the last hurdle on multiple occasions in recent times.

Serving as Houston's first-choice right-back over the past five seasons, he is expected to perform a similar role in Orlando after our sporting director made the bold decision to allow three right-backs to depart the club in quick succession during his first off-season at the top of the recruitment food chain. This move, though, is evidence enough of his lofty ambitions for the team.

Óscar Pareja had been experimenting with Iván Angulo in that position during recent pre-season scrimmages, but the 26-year-old's performance in last weekend's damning 4-1 defeat at home to Colorado Rapids seemingly put an end to that.
