Orlando City have today confirmed the arrival of Maxime Crépeau on a two-and-a-half-year deal following the goalkeeper's departure from Portland Timbers in November.

The 31-year-old arrives in Central Florida boasting serious pedigree in Major League Soccer, winning both the Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup with former club LAFC three years ago.

“Maxime is a proven goalkeeper with a wealth of experience at the highest levels,” said Ricardo Moreira on the club's official website. "We’re thrilled to welcome him to the club and look forward to the impact he’ll make in the City Beautiful.”

Prior to his move to Los Angeles, the Canada native accrued experience in this league featuring for Montreal Impact, as they were then known, as well as Vancouver Whitecaps, where he began to show his credentials as one of the most promising 'keepers in North America.

Earning 29 caps for his national team to date, Crépeau is set to bettle it out with Inter Miami's Dayne St. Clair for the starting gig between the sticks at this summer's FIFA World Cup.

Crépeau is fully expected to serve as Óscar Pareja's first-choice stopper heading into the new season, inheriting the gloves from club legend Pedro Gallese whose contract expired at the turn of the year.

This move brings an end to Orlando's exhausting chase for Gallese's successor this off-season, after Carlos Coronel abandoned his move to Central Florida at the eleventh hour in favour of a return to his native Brazil.
