Orlando City SC defender Alex Freeman is now on the radar of Premier League and Serie A clubs as he finds ways to bank on points for the Lions.
Defender Alex Freeman is cashing in on his talent for Orlando City SC. He’s headed for the U.S. Men’s National Team during the June window. This is Freeman’s first call-up.
But the USMNT isn’t the only organization tracking his achievements. And what achievements they are!
Freeman was one of the three finding the back of the net in a recent 3-0 win over Atlanta United. In 15 games this season, he’s started 14. He has three goals and one assist with six shots on target.
He was pivotal in the club’s first 2025 win, 4-2 over Toronto FC. He had one of the four scores off an assist by Kyle Smith. It was his first MLS goal.
He signed a four-year homegrown contract in February 2022. At age 17, he was just the 12th homegrown player for Orlando. His MLS debut was in 2023. He was a late-match substitute in a 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy.

So the fullback hasn’t been a secret among scouts for a while now. Goal picked up a note that serious Premier League squads include Leeds, Burnley, and Sunderland. In Italy, Parma may be bidding on his contract.
In fact, more than one source has put Parma’s ante as high as €2 million ($2,258,624 US).
Interviews emphasize that Freeman is motivated by a desire to establish himself independently of his father. That father is Green Bay Packers great Antonio Freeman.
But Alex Freeman has already established himself in the MLS. This will always be remembered as his breakout season.
It will take some hard work by the Orlando City SC organization to keep Alex Freeman on the roster. And as long as he’s on the roster, opponents will see him coming at them from everywhere on the pitch.
