Orlando City selected Syracuse defender Abdi Salim with the No. 17 overall pick in the most recent SuperDraft and signed the national champion center half to a contract this preseason.
Salim likely won't play a major role during his rookie season, but has decent upside to become a valuable rotation pice in MLS in the near future. He'll likely play a bulk of his minutes this season in MLS NEXT Pro barring an injury to another first team center back.
