Kyle Smith is the perfect bench option for Orlando City. He's become an invaluable veteran presence for the Lions and that comes with a ton of grit and leadership for the locker room.

On the field, Smith is a servicable backup option on the right or left flank. He's filled in well at both spots in his Orlando City career. Smith isn't dynamic in any area of the game, but he's a perfectly respectable option who can hold his own.

With Ruan's departure, Smith could start a significant number of games for Orlando at right back, but Homegrown Michael Halliday will also vie for the starting position this year.
