Grading Orlando City's 2022 Debutants
César Araújo
While I didn't give him the Man of the Match award for the day, Araújo was my favorite player on the field Sunday. He is exactly the defensive midfielder Orlando City needed. To me, Araújo provided a calm, progressive passer that Orlando hasn't had except for maybe a few games of Uri Rosell in 2020. While his passing is what caught my eye, he also showed well defensively. He made a pair of interceptions and was always hustling back to provide numbers after the Lions turned the ball over. Sebas Méndez might be a bit better defensively right now, but I don't think Orlando has a more balanced central midfielder than Araújo. I'm ecstatic about this kid.
