3. Inter Miami
I want the "Florida Derby" to mean something and be a hotly contested war for the Union's quirkiest state, but I nothing Inter Miami. The David Beckham-owned franchise in Ft. Lauderdale doesn't register as anything for me. To me, a rivalry is fueled by hatred and genuine comtempt, as well as a history of competition. So far, the Herons have failed to deliver on either front.
Like the Rowdies matchup, this feels more like a good Twitter beef and an occasional meme as opposed to a proper derby. Maybe if Miami can ever turn the corner or if something big happens between the two things will change, but as of now this feels like a manufactured rivalry.
