Javier Otero
Stats: 17 games played, +5.1 goals saved above expected
I considered tagging right back Alex Freeman in this spot, but 18-year-old goalkeeper Javier Otero deserves a mention for his play with OCB. The 6'6" shot-stopper had a stellar year in MLS NEXT Pro.
Otero conceded 31 goals against 36.1 expected goals. While MLS NEXT Pro stat keeping is questionable and they don't have a post-shot expected goal stat, this analytic supports the notion that Otero had a stellar season between the pipes.
While Orlando doesn't need a new starting goalkeeper anytime soon, Otero's first season with OCB indicates he could be one to watch for in the future.
