Somehow, sometimes, Orlando City SC transfer rumors get out

• Team good at keeping deals quiet
• Lucky in keeping scout-subjects on contract
• Banked General Allocation Money

The next MLS transfer window doesn’t open until July 18. But that’s no reason to wait to start listening for Orlando City SC rumors. The home team doesn't make them easy to get, however.

By rule, all in-season trades involving Orlando City SC and other MLS teams must occur within the transfer windows. The Primary Transfer Window was Jan. 31-April 23. The Second Transfer Window runs July 18-Aug. 14.

Rosters freeze Sept. 13.

Well ahead of this next transfer window, Orlando City loaded the team armory with $50,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money. That sum arrived from Charlotte FC when the organization exchanged it for midfielder Junior Orso’s Right of First Refusal.

Oso had appeared 112 times for the Lions before his option was declined after the 2023 season. Since moving to Charlotte, he’s appeared in 11 games, six starts, with four shots and 83% accurate passes.

Scouts consistently monitor Orlando striker Duncan McGuire for possible transfer offers. The Blackburn Rovers in the English Football League made the last attempt to move the players.

That transfer failed twice, once with McGuire ready to fly. Instead, he’s on international break from City with the U.S. U-23 National Team.

There was another serious transfer look before then, reported in these same digital pages.

Arsenal scouts got noisy enough in January that we picked them up searching out a deal for midfielder Facundo Torres. The organization had been looking at Torres for months and it appeared at the time he’d trigger a record Orlando deal in terms of money.

But no move resulted. Instead, Torres signed a new contract with the Lions guaranteed through 2026, with options.

But those trade rumor eruptions are unusual for Orlando City. Somehow, this organization keeps quieter about transfers than the National Security Agency.

MLS operates an online Transfer Tracker for supporters to cuss and discuss 24 hours a day. At this posting, Orlando has a listing back on Feb. 20, after the organization signed midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski through this season, with options.

So far through the international break, the player has appeared in four games.

The team recently signed short-term agreements with forwards Yutaro Tsukada and Wilfredo Rivera.

For any other transfers, Orlando City SC will let us know when they get the ink to dry and they’re ready. They know we’re ready.
