The first place Philadelphia Union (5-3-3, 18 points) travel to the Citrus Bowl to take on Orlando City (3-3-5, 14 points) Wednesday night at 7:30 PM EST.
The Lions will start the game shorthanded, due to injuries to midfielder Darwin Ceren and defenders Seb Hines and Rafael Ramos. This is the formation I expect head coach Adrian Heath to start the game with, mostly due to Nocerino and Molino getting to rest on Saturday.
Philadelphia is coming off of a dramatic 1-0 win over DC United in which defender Richie Marquez scored the lone goal of the game in second half stoppage time. Not many people would have picked the Union to be atop of the Eastern Conference at the beginning of the year, but solid team play and some individual brilliance from CJ Sapong, Chris Pontius, and Andre Blake have put them in poll position a third of the way through the season.
Orlando City’s next game is on Sunday, when they travel to Yankee Stadium to take on NYCFC, just a week after an embarrassing 7-0 loss to the bitter rival New York Red Bulls.
