O-Town’s 11 readers, the Orlando Soccer Family, and the entire Orlando community,
I, like all of you, was devastated to wake up to the news of the senseless massacre that took place over the weekend, in our beloved city. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims, their family members, and loved ones.
Over the last three years I’ve grown to love the Orlando community. Whether I’m at a Saturday morning farmer’s market in Winter Park, walking around U.C.F.’s campus, or in the stands for one of my beloved Orlando City Soccer Club’s matches, I always feel that I’m part of a vibrant, inclusive and above all, compassionate community.
Seeing the City Beautiful unify under such difficult circumstances has been nothing short of inspiring. Witnessing the heroic efforts from the Orlando Police Department, the thousands upon thousands of citizens waiting in ninety degree heat to donate blood, and the numerous local businesses willing to help those waiting in line, sends a very strong message that the people of Orlando will drown out such an unjustifiable act of hate, with an outpouring of love and compassion.
This is our city and hate and fear will never have a place in the City Beautiful. Thank you Orlando, for inspiring me and billions around the world.
